delubyo week
I am in Makati right now, with my sibs and cousins. We are staying here temporarily until the streets are safe.
Marikina is a ghost town.
This week has been a long one. Me and the LTS group got stranded in Antipolo due to the heavy flood and landslides. I got lucky, needless to say. We had food and electricity the whole weekend. Others were not as lucky. It makes me sad to think about the week that has been, but life goes on. What’s important is that everyone is safe for the time being. I pray for those who have lost their homes and families.
It is in these trying times that we realize the basic essentials in life: food, water, shelter and one another. We tend to take these things for granted. Let us all learn from this disaster.
Don’t throw your trash on the streets! If there are no available trash cans, pocket them if possible. To the public officials: we need more trash cans. Marikina is said to be one of the cleanest cities in Metro Manila, but trash cans are still a rarity. Segregate and recycle. Let’s all help in the effort to clean the drainage of our streets. In our own little way, we can help to prevent another tragedy like this from happening.
Most importantly, cherish every moment of your life.
For some weird reason, all of us are survivors. And there is a reason why we survived. Let us take this example as a sign for change.
